Financial Institutions

Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Title 6, and Arizona Administrative Code Title 20, the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions (AZDFI) oversees the secure operation of Arizona’s state chartered Financial Institutions.  AZDFI ensures public confidence in Financial Institutions by protecting the interest of depositors, borrowers, shareholders and consumers through enforcement of state laws.  AZDFI is responsible for administering state laws that regulate Financial Institutions which include banks, credit unions, trust companies, trust divisions and savings and loan associations.

Notice to New Applicants

If you are filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission to conduct business in the state of Arizona, you must get approval from AZDFI if your company name contains words that may be confused with a Financial Institution.

AZDFI also regulates Financial Enterprises which includes, advance fee loan brokers, appraisal management companies, certified general appraisers, certified residential appraisers, collection agencies, commercial mortgage brokers and bankers, consumer lenders, debt management companies, escrow agents, loan originators, money transmitters, mortgage brokers and bankers, non-residential temporary appraisers, premium finance companies, property tax agents, registered trainee appraisers, and sales finance companies
